{"id":4529,"date":"2025-02-04T17:27:40","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T17:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chelseabluesnews.com\/?p=4529"},"modified":"2025-03-20T00:11:51","modified_gmt":"2025-03-20T00:11:51","slug":"mathis-amougou-joins-chelsea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chelseabluesnews.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/04\/mathis-amougou-joins-chelsea\/","title":{"rendered":"Mathis Amougou joins Chelsea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Ashton Cox<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mathis Amougou has joined Chelsea on deadline day.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old midfielder has signed for a fee of \u00a312 million on an eight-year deal.<\/p>\n<p>The Frenchman arrives with just 17 professional appearances under his belt, having only made his first-team debut for Saint Etienne in Ligue 2 last season.<\/p>\n<p>He will start first-team training this week, but is expected to go on loan to sister-club RC Strasbourg at the start of the 2025\/26 season.<\/p>\n<p>Amougou said: &#8220;I&#8217;m very happy. It&#8217;s an honour for me to sign for such a big club like Chelsea. They believe in young players and the process they have in place to develop us is fantastic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Internationally, Amougou represented France at under-16, under-17, under-18 and under-20 level.<\/p>\n<p>His greatest moment for his country so far came at the 2023 under-17 World Cup, where his performances &#8211; including a last-minute equaliser in the final &#8211; were enough to earn him the Bronze Ball award.<\/p>\n<p>As such, he was moved up to the under-20 category at the start of this season.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Ashton Cox Mathis Amougou has joined Chelsea on deadline day.
