Liam Rosenior has been appointed as manager of Chelsea Football Club.
The 41-year-old Englishman joins on a six-year contract that runs through to the summer of 2032.
Rosenior had been in the dugout at fellow BlueCo club, RC Strasbourg, where he guided them to seventh in his first season, qualifying them for the Europa Conference League.
The French team are currently top of the table of the competition that the Blues won last season, and are once again seventh in Ligue 1.
The son of former manager and player Leroy Rosenior, Liam also had managerial spells at Derby County and Hull City.
He took over as interim at the Rams in June 2022 through to September 2022, and was with the Tigers from November 2022 until May 2024, with Hull seventh in the Championship.
Born in London, Rosenior’s football journey started down in Bristol City as a right-back in 2002, before signing for Chelsea’s West London rivals, Fulham, after one season.
A later spell at Reading led to his most fruitful period at Hull as a player, making more than 140 appearances and starting in the 2014 FA Cup Final, before retiring in 2018 at Brighton.
Rosenior said of his pride at joining Chelsea: “I am extremely humbled and honoured to be appointed Head Coach of Chelsea Football Club. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history of winning trophies.
“My job is to protect that identity and create a team that reflects these values in every game we play as we continue winning trophies. To be entrusted with this role means the world to me and I want to thank all involved for the opportunity and faith in undertaking this job. I will give everything to bring the success this club deserves.
“I believe deeply in teamwork, unity, togetherness and working for one another, and those values will be at the heart of everything we do. They will be the foundation of our success.
“I am excited to work with this extremely talented group of players and staff, to build strong connections on and off the pitch, and to create an environment where everyone feels united and driven by the same goal.
‘There is a real hunger to win, and I will give everything, every single day, to help this team compete and win at the very highest level to make everyone connected and proud to be a part of Chelsea Football Club.
“I want our fans to be proud of who we are and what we represent in every single game that we play. They are the soul of this enormous, historic and huge football club.
“I cannot wait to meet you all. I cannot wait to get started.”
His first game in charge of the club will come away at Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday evening, with his opening home game being the first-leg Carabao Cup semi-final versus Arsenal next Wednesday.
Caretaker boss Calum McFarlane remains in charge for tomorrow’s trip to Fulham.
